My son was diagnosed with catatonic schizophrenia today. He is being sectioned under the Mental Health Act and goes through his first treatment of ECT tomorrow on Friday 31st August 2007. I stumbled upon your webjournal when I was researching the illness. Thanks so much, your writings have really given me an insight into his illness. I am still in shock really after being told he had this. Best wishes

I am so sorry your son is going through this illness and trust his treatment with ECT is successful.

Mental illness is difficult all around; for the person who is living with it, as well as, the people who are close to him also. It’s tough to see a loved one in pain, as the feeling of helplessness is there – but there is always hope. Be strong for you and him.

    Take care.
